A Challenge to Women

Last Sunday at Second Mile we studied God’s command for wives to submit to their husbands. As a follow up, I wanted to recommend John Piper’s article, “A Challenge to Women,” where he offers 15 challenges for godly women to embrace their unique and wonderful design.

All of those are really good, but one thing that stuck out to me today was “No chapter has all the joys”. Living with the amazing and wonderful Jollys these past few months, we’ve seen how peaceful and productive life with grown children can be and we look forward to hopefully being there someday! But at the same time I don’t want to get discouraged when life doesn’t look like that for us right now b/c we’re just not in that season, and on the flip side I want to cherish the joys that are exclusive to THIS season!

That’s a great thought Kristie. I agree. We need to soak up the moments that we have all along the way.

As I read those challenges what stands out to me is seek God first, seek God first, seek God first and let the fullness of God overflow in your acts of love so that people might see your good deeds and give glory to your Father in heaven. Be filled with Him! I have a tendenacy to want to be “doing” wife. I am supposed to do this or do that, but instead BE filled with Christ through His Word and let everything overflow.
